"May 14, 1952. “The Smoke Squadron” accomplishes its first official exhibition". Ever since, thousands of people have been having an exciting opportunity to be in touch with the pilot’s expertise, and the competent team of mechanics that support them, and it wakes up, in this way, the recognition, the admiration and the respect of the Brazilian Air Force.
Now, with more than 2900 demonstrations accomplished in Brazil and abroad, the "Smoke Squadron" proudly crosses the skies. Planes flown by a team whose bravery and pride come not only from the mutual confidence developed along lots of training sessions but also from the certainty of being representing an institution that excels for the efficiency in the defense and sovereignty of our homeland air space.
The "Esquadrilha da Fumaça" is on the Guinness Book of Records!
The Air Demonstration Squadron, Brazilian Air Force received a certificate in March 1999 from Guinness Publishing, London, the publishers who are responsible for the recognition of World records on the Guinness Book of Records.
The citation reads: "On 23 October 1996, ten aircraft T-27 Tucano which equip the Air Demonstration Squadron, Brazilian Air Force, flew inverted in formation for 30 (thirty) seconds, covering a distance of 3,000 (three thousand) metres".
